About Dr Clayton Smith


Dr Clayton Smith is a member of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and a registered medical practitioner. He sees patients 18 years and older and has a special interest in anxiety disorders such as obsessive compulsive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder. If required Dr Clayton Smith can admit patients to St John of God Private Hospital Burwood for inpatient treatment or drug and alcohol detoxification and rehabilitation. His outpatient practice is based at the St John of God Hospital Medical Centre in Burwood.

Dr Clayton Smith has a special interest in Mind Body medicine and values wholistic care, including lifestyle modification, nutrition and exercise. Dr Smith is trained to use psychotherapy including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. He also uses medication and nutritional supplements when indicated. His philosophy is to support people to show up in their lives, to practice compassion for themselves and to make room for the challenges that will always be part of a life well lived.

Dr Clayton Smith has links with the extensive outpatient therapy program at the St John of God Hospital Burwood’s Centre for Therapy and Counselling. He also works closely with other health professionals like psychologists, neuropsychologists, social workers and occupational therapists.
